Sentence, struggle and return to medicine

Although sentenced to four years, Murray was released after roughly two years in 2013. His U.S. medical licenses were suspended or revoked, and he sought reinstatement in Texas in 2013. He later said he provided pro bono consultations in Florida and lived near Fort Lauderdale before returning to Trinidad and Tobago. Murray took legal action against the Medical Board of Trinidad and Tobago in 2018 after it would not accept his registration fees. In May 2023 he opened the DCM Medical Institute in El Socorro, San Juan, saying colleagues had treated him as a threat and that he remained "innocent" and determined to continue practicing.
