Rescue Operations

A rescue helicopter managed to save one individual, though another was recovered but sadly pronounced dead upon reaching the shore. Official reports later identified two men, aged 35 and a woman aged 55, as among the deceased. Unfortunately, a further female victim succumbed to her injuries after being resuscitated and airlifted to a hospital. It remains unclear if any German nationals were among those affected. Search efforts continued throughout the evening for the missing individual but yielded no results.

Warnings Issued

Authorities had previously issued warnings regarding dangerous wave conditions. Reports indicated that some victims managed to escape the waves themselves. State broadcaster RTVE reminded the public of the warnings from Sunday regarding high waves. The natural pools, once cherished by vacationers as secret spots, can quickly turn perilous in rough seas, pulling individuals into the open ocean and creating strong currents that hinder escape. Just a few weeks earlier, Tenerife faced a similar harrowing situation, where several people were also swept into the water, resulting in three deaths and multiple injuries. This recent tragedy has once again cast a shadow over the island.
