What Kampala says

General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, son of President Yoweri Museveni and head of Uganda’s armed forces, announced on X that the country will withdraw, saying it will not take part in activities lacking the King’s approval. He told U.K. media he stepped in after divisions within the defence ministry over the couple’s involvement and affirmed his support for the monarch.

Invictus response and Ugandan work

The Invictus Games Foundation says it has not received formal notice through its channels and is seeking clarification while remaining committed to sport-based recovery. Uganda only joined as the 26th member in July 2026 and had received donated equipment and backing from senior military officials to build recovery opportunities for wounded and injured service personnel.
